Although Zeppelin made a bigger contribution to rock music in general, there's no doubt in my mind that in very specific terms, DP had the biggest influence on metal. As I mentioned in another post, Michael Schenker is right up there as well. If you listen to the lead guitar work in 80's metal, you'll hear his licks being played. That's cuz all of the metal players were listening to and WATCHING Schenker live in the 70's when UFO mostly played in Europe, especially England.
